564 Phyllis Rust, 71, glided peacefully into her Savior's arms June 6, 2009. Unexpectedly we may say, but timely in the Master's plan.Phyl was born February 11, 1938 to Andrew and Etta DeJong, the second of 10 daughters. She married John Rust September 5, 1958. They lived an active life and raised 2 children. Throughout their marriage, they lived in Minnesota and Arkansas. Each house John provided, Phyl made it home using her gifts of decorating, sewing and gardening making them beautiful inside and out.Hard work, perpetual motion, nurturing and tending to her home, family and others was evident in everything she did.John and Phyl were married 50 years. They enjoyed varied interests and integrated them into their daily life and travels. John and Phyl enjoyed traveling South in the winter and camping in the Airstream John restored. As always, Phyl's traveling projects included sightseeing, antiquing, quilting, trying to keep John on track and making the plan for the day.Phyl exhibited an enthusiasm for life. She loved gardening and became a Master Gardener. She was as often on her knees in the garden as she was on her knees in prayer for others.She used her gifts and talents touching many lives. The beautiful quilts and patterns she created are indicative of the Master's Plan in her life.She was greatly loved and will be terribly missed by her loving husband John, daughter Leslie and husband Bill Humphrey, grandchildren Ashley and Whitney, son Doug and wife Gerri Ann Rust.Phyl is survived in life by sisters Fran and Dave Maat, California, Dort and Poncho Jacinto, Mexico, Joyce and Loren Timmer, MN, Carolyn and Warren Kamstra, MN, Jan and Randy Godeke, MN, Julie and Rick Neufeld, Tennessee, Shirley and John Hyre, Florida, Linda and Jere Phillips, MN, Sandi DeJong, MN, many nieces, nephews, and friends.Phyl is preceded in death by her parents Andrew and Etta DeJong, and granddaughter Jordain Rust.May God give us strength, comfort and grace until we see her again de Jong, Phyllis E. 567 Rena was born March 16, 1915 at Ireton, the daughter of Fred and Jennie (De Jager) De Jong. Except for a few years at Pease, Minn., she was raised at Ireton where she first attended a country school and then the Christian school.

On June 6, 1945 she married Art De Boer at Ireton. They farmed near Ireton until 1968 when they moved to Orange City.

In the fall of 1993, they both became residents of the Heritage House.

Mrs. De Boer was a member of the First Reformed Church in Orange City where she participated in the Lydia Circle. In earlier years she taught Sunday school and catechism classes at Ireton.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters and their husbands, Marcia and Bert Groeneweg and Norma and Robert Lucas, all of Sioux Falls, S.D.; a son and his wife, Arlin and Laura De Boer of Sharon, Conn.; six grandchildren, Rhonda Boyum, Mark Groeneweg, Angela and Jeffrey Lucas, and Jenny and Jesse De Boer; two brothers, Henry De Jong of Orange City and Alfred De Jong of Ireton; and a sister, Esther Mae Bolkema of Grand Rapids, Mich.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ted De Jong and Bernard De Jong, and two sisters, Rose Mulder and Ann Mulder.

568 rene Van Englehoven was born March 30, 1913 in rural Marion County, the daughter of John A. and Nellie De Raad Van Waardhuizen.

She attended fair Oaks Country Grade School near Cordova.

On October 25, 1934, she married rene Van Englehoven at Kirksville, Mo.

They farmed in the Fifield, Otley, Monroe and Pella Areas until they retired from farming in 1971. Moving into Pella, she then worked as a war clerk and nurse's aide at Pella Community Hospital and laer was employed by T&D Department Store.

Irene died August 7, 1991 at Pella Community Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers in infancy; and an infant grandson, Nathan Smith.

She is survived by her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Deryl (Pat) Smith of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sons, Ronald of Knoxville and Marvin of San Clemente, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Earl (Angelene) Grandia of Pella.

569 Rose is a 1949 graduate from Norwood-Young America High School. She was very active in many church ministries, CCW member, foreign exchange student Mom, 4-H leader, and foster parent. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, reading, traveling, singing in church choirs, and especially spending time with her family; she was a wonderful homemaker.

On June 23, 1953 Rose Bongaarts and Don Becker were united in holy matrimony at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Shakopee, now known as The Parish of Saints Joachim and Anne, by Father Marvin Klaers.

Preceded in death by parents, Tony and Catherine Bongaarts; daughter, Lisa; son-in-law, Bob Dehmer; granddaughter, Robyn Lynn Dehmer; siblings, Greg Bongaarts, Delores Weber, Gordon Bongaarts; and siblings-in-law, Edwin “Eddie” Weber, Roman Becker.

Norma worked for many years at the San Mateo County Election Department.. 578 She was born April 24, 1947, at Ontario, Ore., daughter of Perry and Mabel Lemmon. She was the younger of two daughters, who were seven years apart in age.
Her family moved from Payette to Idaho Falls, Idaho, in 1953 where she was raised and lived most of her life. She attended Idaho Falls High School, class of 1964. She married George Sparr, her high school sweetheart. They raised two daughters in Ammon, Idaho; Tammy and Brenda. They divorced after 18+ years. She later married Joe A. Kildow, Castle Rock, Colo., her best friend and love of her life, March 27, 1996. Widowed, July 18, 2009, she missed him greatly and looked forward to being reunited.
Jeanna experienced many difficulties in this life, especially with her health. She developed strength through her struggles and came through them a stronger person. She cherished friendships, wanted to be accepted and showed unconditional Christ-like love to others.
She loved angels, dragonflies, shopping, Oprah, reading, manicures, pedicures, weekly hair appointments by her grand-daughter - Chantell, watching HGTV and Hallmark movies.
She was a successful Tupperware and Avon sales manager, where she earned cars and great rewards for her hard work. She loved the outdoors. When in better health, she enjoyed doing many recreational activities; camp, hike, snowmobile, ride bikes, flowers and many more. In addition, she enjoyed working in retail clothing and as a hospital unit clerk.
She was raised a member of the Trinity Methodist Church, until she married George. She then joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed callings in the primary presidency, teaching primary and being a visiting teacher.
Survivors include: two daughters, Tammy Evans (Aaron), West Jordan, Utah, and Brenda Peterson, (Dale Peterson), Idaho Falls, Idaho; grandchildren Brandon (Wendy) Evans, West Jordan, Utah, and Chantell Evans, West Jordan, Utah, and Britney (Jason) Croney, Shelley, Idaho, Derek Peterson and Brooklyn Peterson, Idaho Falls, Idaho. She has six great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Kenneth Slusser, Idaho Falls, Idaho; two nieces, Kathryn Slusser, Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Saundra (Larry) Dunsmoor, Klamath Falls, Ore.; and one great-nephew. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister, Carolyn Slusser, who passed only nine months prior.

580 She was born July 4, 1904, in Chicago, Ill., to Aaron and Alice (nee Meyer) Van Dam. She married Clarke Turner on June 2, 1924, at the Congregational Church Parsonage in Pittsville. The Turners celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1974.
Mrs. Turner attended Wallace Grade School and Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids. She and her husband farmed in the town of Cary and the town of Wood. Lena was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, canning and baking.
Surviving are her daughters; 27 grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, eight step-great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her brother, Clarence Van Dam of Walworth; and two sisters, Phyllis Nelson of Danville, Ill., and Cornelia Johnson of Rockford, Ill.
She was predeceased by her husband on Nov. 9, 1974; her parents; two grandsons; one great-granddaughter; one sister and four brothers.

She is survived by six children, William Boyer, Nila Pierce, Judy Meinert, Alice Polak, Donna (Wayne) Perry and James (Marcia) Boyer and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She worked in the deli department at K-Mart until her retirement in 1980.

Dine is preceded in death by her husband, Henry N. Pederson; her loving son, Wilson D. Burtt Jr. and wife, Cindy; Dine was blessed with one grandchild, Christian Burtt and wife, Marie and two great grandchildren; three surviving siblings, Elisabeth Courway, Clarence Kooy and Harvey Kooy and wife, Patricia.
Dine was a Manteca resident. She graduated from Manteca High School in the class on 1941. She worked at a car dealership as a secretary for years. Dine was a volunteer braille typist. A talented seamstress, Dine's meticulousness and skill transpired with every garment..
She was timid, but her humor would always shine through. She loved her son dearly as he was her pride and joy. She will be remembered for her love for her family and her gentle spirit.

583 She was born on Sept. 4th, 1929 to Clarke and Lena Turner. Effie was the fourth of seven daughters in the Turner family. She loved all of her sisters dearly and thought of them all as her friends. The family lived and worked on a farm in Pittsville, Wi. In her late teens, Effie moved from the family farm to Wisconsin Rapids to attend vocational school. While attending school she worked for Mrs. Siewert whom she loved dearly.In October of 1947 she married Loren V. Enerson and moved to Fairbanks Alaska. In 1948 a daughter Coral Jean was born, and then in 1949 a son, Gary Lee. After months of adventure and isolation she desperately missed her family and moved back to Wisconsin. In 1951 her youngest daughter Judith Ann was born. As a single mother in the 1950s, she was diagnosed with tuberculosis, leaving her children in the loving care of her parents, she healed for months at a sanitarium in Stevens Point. Effie was a hard worker and sometimes worked multiple jobs to support her beloved children. Her employers included Boles Abstract, Herrschners, Del Monte, and Hershlebs Ice Cream. She also owned her own popcorn wagon which she independently operated at the softball fields and parks in Wisconsin Rapids. The popcorn wagon also served as a play place for her grandchildren. Effie enjoyed dances, shopping, picnics at Richfield Park with her children and grandchildren, time with her sisters, and holidays (especially Christmas). Much to the delight of her granddaughters, Effie was very well dressed and enjoyed the latest fashion always with a purse and shoes to match each outfit. Her large closet was a mess but likely due to "dress up" time with her Granddaughters. Right up until the end of her life, Effie wanted to look her best getting her hair, nails and makeup done, putting on a new outfit, and always topping it off with jewelry. Once Effie moved into Miller Alternative Care, she enjoyed going out for visits and eating out. She especially loved events and activities at the MARCC( Respite). Her "Bestie" Marilyn Seidl-Kramer was always willing to take Effie out on adventures such as dances at Respite, out to eat and to rummage sales.Effie is survived by her daughters Coral Doescher (Norm Hasenfang) and Judy (Rich) Hauger; siblings: Bernice Wills, Bonnie Haasl, Hazel Lewis and June Smith. Grandchildren: Chris (Dan) Hanlon, Terry Frost, Cindy Davies (Randy Steinhorst) and Tina (Mike) Fox. On April 17, 1942, she was married to Von Theodore Cornish in Coldwater, Michigan and he preceded her in death February 14, 1981. She has lived in Battle Creek for the last 2½years moving from Albion, she was a Homemaker. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church while in Albion and has attended the Seventh Day Baptist Church in Battle Creek for the last 20 Years. She is survived by 3 daughters Andriana (Kent) Spitler of Midlothian, VA; Connie L. Yates and Gloria J. Cornish both of Battle Creek, MI; 3 sons Von T. Cornish Jr. and Michael E. 588 Tammy was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother, called home to be with her Heavenly Father on Mother's Day. Her passing was unexpected, but her legacy is present in all who had the privilege to know her.
She was born to George Wesley Sparr and Jeanna Lee Lemmon in Idaho Falls, Idaho. On February 14, 1985, she was sealed to her sweetheart Aaron Dee Evans in the Idaho Falls Temple. She worked for many years in the healthcare industry as a marketing specialist before starting her own promotions business.
Her gift to the world was the care she showed for others. Many have been touched by her kindness and love. Words cannot express the deep love and devotion she had for her grandchildren. She put the needs of her family before her own and we are thankful to have been recipients of her love and tenderness. She was a faithful member of the LDS church and with her husband, adored the children they taught in primary over the past several years.
Tammy is survived by her husband, Aaron; their two children, Brandon (Wendy) and Chantell; 4 grandchildren, Braxton, Delaney, Hadley and Paisley. She was preceded in death by her mother Jeanna.

589 The family moved west finding work with government defense projects, sometimes living in makeshift housing until more permanent accommodations were available. They finally settled in Nampa, Idaho in 1941.

Lloyd was a graduate of Nampa High School in 1950 where he participated in boxing and lettered four years in track. He then attended one year of business school before being drafted into the US Army in March of 1951. He married Sara Corder June 23, 1951 and they began their marriage years at Fort Lewis in Washington state. There, daughter Diane was born. Upon his discharge from the Army, the family returned to Nampa in 1953. His son Wayne was born in 1955, followed by son Russell in 1959.

Lloyd enjoyed a 39-year career in the meat packing industry. He started as a butcher and ended his career as plant engineer. He was well respected for incorporating many innovative ideas, including development of an automated knife sharpening machine. Following retirement Lloyd volunteered for several years with Idaho Fish and Game, where he was fondly known as "Bear Trap Lloyd".

Lloyd was an avid elk hunter. He also was a horseman. He especially enjoyed utilizing his horses to pack the camp in and the elk out. The family also enjoyed vacations to the Oregon coast, Disneyland, and many camping, fishing and hunting adventures. Later in life He and Sara purchased a cabin near Garden Valley in 1985, where they spent many wonderful hours with family and friends.

Lloyd was a unique self-taught wood carver and won many awards from the Idaho Woodcarving Guild. His carvings remain prized possessions of family and friends. He also enjoyed competing in fun runs/race walking. His favorite was the Robie Creek half marathon. At the age of 70, he finished in the top of his age group.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Sara, his youngest son Russell, his parents, in-laws, brother Kenneth, his wife Charlotte, and sister Linda.

Lloyd is survived by daughter Diane, son Wayne (Vicki), grandchildren Mindy Franssen, Amy Nixon (Craig), Joe Franssen (Helenna), Holly Markus-Martinez, Abigail Nieto (Sam), and Katie Hadlock plus thirteen great grandchildren and many, many special friends.

595 Violet Ruth Boot, the first-born child of Ralph G and Nellie (Van Den Berg) Kuiper, was born on a farm near Pella, Iowa, on June 17, 1932. Violet attended the European #3 Country School and Pella Community High School, graduating with the Class of 1950. She took classes at Central College for a time, completing all those she enjoyed, primarily bookkeeping. On July 29, 1952, Violet was united in marriage to Arvin Gene Boot at Third Reformed Church. Soon after, in May of 1953, Arvin was drafted into the U.S. Army. While Arvin attended radar school at Fort Bliss, Violet was able to join him, living in their tiny but tidy trailer in El Paso, Texas. Violet returned home to Iowa while Arvin served nine months in Japan, receiving and writing daily letters. Following Arvin’s discharge, Arvin and Violet returned to the family farm north of Pella. There, they were blessed with two daughters, Kaylene in 1957 and Beth Ann in 1962. Sadly, in December 1964, Kaylene was diagnosed with aplastic anemia and passed away on May 8, 1965, at the young age of eight.

Through the years, Violet was busy on the farm, preparing many delicious meals and coffee times. She worked alongside Arvin growing the Pioneer Seed business, learning the computer, assisting customers in the warehouse and hosting Pioneer Days. Violet also was a 4-H leader, Campfire leader, Sunday school teacher and active church member. But most of all, Violet was interested in people. She loved a day out with friends, an evening in with family, or a road trip with Arvin. In 1994, Violet and Arvin moved to the condo in Pella. Arvin passed away on September 20, 2003, at the age of 70. Violet continued to attend her grandson’s football games, share her unwritten baking tips with her granddaughter and love us all well. In the spring of 2014, Violet moved to Assisted Living at The Cottages. She cherished her time and friends there. Following a recent cancer diagnosis, Violet peacefully passed away on Friday morning, August 30, while being cared for at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House.

Violet leaves the family who loved her deeply, daughter Beth Loux of Pella and grandchildren Anna Loux of Frisco, Texas, and William Loux of Arlington, Virginia. She also leaves her sister, Norma Hiemstra and sister-in-law Nancy Kuiper along with nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Violet was preceded in death by her husband Arvin, her daughter Kaylene, her parents Ralph G and Nellie Kuiper, her parents-in-law J. Harry and Stella Boot, her brother Gerald Kuiper, brother-in-law Rev. Harold Hiemstra and niece Valerie Hiemstra. Violet’s goal in life was to leave her mark for Christ, serving God and others. She accomplished it well.

596 Virgil M. Kipers, Sr. Virgil M. Kipers, Sr., 94, of Tecumseh, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at a Topeka care facility. He was born June 8, 1922 in Augusta, Kansas, the son of John and Florence May (Weeks) Kipers. Virgil graduated from Augusta High School in 1940. He was a Navy Veteran during WWII. Virgil was employed by the Santa Fe Railroad for over 46 years before retiring. He was a member of the Highland Park United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Church in Augusta and the American Legion. Virgil married Juanita Jane Kipers on June 7, 1942 in Augusta. She preceded him in death on August 16, 2004. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Janet K. Colbert on February 17, 2013 and his granddaughter, Kelley Kipers in 1974. Survivors include their children, Virgil M. Kipers, Jr. of Littleton, CO, Gary L. Kipers of Pierce City, MO and Karla K. Richardson of Topeka, grandchildren, Kandee, Kathy, Tracy, Boyce, Rhea, Kortney, Racheal, and Gary, ten great-grandchildren and his brother, Gerald Kipers of Topeka. Kuipers, Virgil M. Sr. (I5932)
