- On March 4, 1944, in Corcoran, MN, Duane was born the fourth of seven sons to parents, Celestine “Sam” and Anna (Laumann) Gast. His family lived in St. Michael, Waconia, Marystown, before settling their roots in Shakopee. When Duane was old enough to earn extra money for his family, he enjoyed helping out local farmers, with all the tasks of farm life. Duane graduated from Jordan High School in 1963. Duane proudly served in the United States Army, in communications. For over 30 plus years, Duane worked as a machinist at Anchor Glass. When he turned 62 years of age, Duane retired and enjoyed his many years at the at the hobby farm in Eden Valley. Preceded in death and there to welcome Duane home to God are his parents, Sam and Anna Gast; brothers, Arthur Pierson, Edwin (Millie) Gast; and sister-in-law, Karen Gast.
