Tracy Matilda (Moss) De Jong was born on September 12, 1916 to Albert and Agnes (Kuyper) Moss on a farm near Carmel, Iowa. Tracy attended country school through the eighth grade.
On March 26, 1936, Tracy married Simon De Jong in Carmel. The couple lived and farmed near Carmel until 1974, when they moved into Sioux Center. In 2011, Tracy moved to Crown Pointe Assisted Living in Sioux Center and was lovingly cared for by the staff at Royale Meadows Care Center at the time of her death. Tracy was a lifelong member of the Carmel Reformed Church, where she was active in Ladies Aid and singing in the choir. In her free time, Tracy enjoyed staying busy in the garden or working with flowers. Her hands were often busy with quilting or crocheting projects. She loved music and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children: Allen (Eunice) De Jong of Rock Valley, Florence Dykstra of Hospers, Odean (Phyllis) De Jong of Hull, Lloyd (Lois) De Jong and Dallas De Jong of Sioux Center, Karen (Myron) Kooima of Inwood, Beverly (Larry) Eckblad of Lakewood, CO; 20 grandchildren; 55 great grandchildren; 14 great great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Frances Moss of Bettendorf, IA, as well as, numerous nieces and nephews.
Tracy was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Simon; her parents, Albert and Agnes Moss; infant son, Stanley De Jong; infant grandson, Michael De Jong; two great granddaughters: Katelyn De Jong and Isabelle Fuihr; son-in-law, Dick C. Dykstra and five siblings: Neal (Tillie) Moss, Marion (Henrietta) Moss, John (Gertrude) Moss, Edward Moss and Gertrude (Martin) De Jager.
