- Berniece Grace Koopal Wesseling was born December 27, 1935 to Martin and Jennie (Dykema) Koopal in rural Platte, South Dakota, Charles Mix County. She completed her education through the 8th grade and went on to earn her GED. On August 24, 1954, she was united in marriage to James H. Wesseling at the First Reformed Church in Platte. She had made her home in Rapid City, Chamberlain and Aurora Center, SD before returning to Platte. Together she and James helped many older residents live a more independent life through their ownership of the Platte Assisted Living.
Berniece was a woman of strong faith and member of the First Reformed Church in Platte; collected Precious Moments figurines; had a green thumb; enjoyed bowling; was a hard worker and a good wife and mother.
Berniece was preceded in death by: her parents, Martin and Jennie Koopal; a brother, John Koopal; her father-in-law, Harold Wesseling and a brother-in-law, Harlan Mesman.
