- Cecil J. Van Vlymen, passed December 26, 2009, age 85. Late of Fort Myers Beach, FL, formerly of Homewood; beloved husband of the late Dorothy Van Vlymen and a cherished life companion of Jean Ziemann; Loving father of James (Patricia) Van Vlymen of Homewood, and Jill (Ted) Melnyk of LaPorte, IN; treasured stepfather of August (Terry) Ziemann of Elgin, IL, Jennifer (Jeffery) Spitzer of Palatine, IL, and Amanda Ziemann of Bradley, IL; Devoted grandfather of eight; and great grandfather of eight. Brother of the late John Van Vlymen. U.S. Army Air Corps Sgt. serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II and recipient of the Bronze Battle Star. Owner and founder of the former Southgate Distributing Company, Alsip, IL. 43 year member of Chicago Yacht Club.
