- Dowe attended country schools and graduated from New Virginia High School in 1929.
On February 27, 1938, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Peak in Martensdale, Iowa. Five children were born to this union.
He was a farmer all his life and had farmed the same farm 52 years. He was a member of the New Virginia Lions club, and served on the Warren County Zoning Commission, and attended the Broadhorn Church. He had served on the New Virginia and Interstate 35 School Boards for 40 years.
He enjoyed reading and short wave radios.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Floyd and Loren, and daughter-in-law Rebecca Loomis.
Leaving to cherish his memory are; wife, Marjorie of New Virginia, Iowa; daughter, Patricia Haugen and husband, Philip of Mason City, Iowa; son, Roland Loomis of Indianola, Iowa; son, James Loomis and wife, Barbara St. Marys, Iowa; daughter, Anita Braddock and husband, Gerald of Adana, Turkey; son, Raymond Loomis of New Virginia, Iowa; 7 Grandchildren; one brother, Wendell Loomis and wife, Wyla of Big Horn, Wyoming; sister-in-law, Marvel Loomis of New Virginia, Iowa; sister-in-law, Jean Hadsall and husband, Robert of St. Marys, Iowa; brother-in-law Dr. Frank Peak and wife, Mary of Knoxville, Iowa, as well as other relatives and a host of friends.
