- Arlene R. Dekkers was born May 24, 1937 at Ireton, Iowa, the daughter of Theodore "Ted" and Geraldine (Hofmeyer) De Jong. She attended Ireton Christian School and married Anthony J. Dekkers September 25, 1957 at Ireton. The couple lived in Florida for a short time while Anthony served in the U.S. Navy. They lived in Ireton before they began farming northeast of Hawarden.
Arlene was an active member of the Christian Reformed Church in Hawarden serving in Sunday School, as Youth Leader and in the Dorcas Aid. She was an Avon representative for 24 years.
Survivors include her husband Anthony J.; her two children, Janelle Tresa Dekkers of Pleaston, California, and Myron Lee Dekkers of Hawarden; one granddaughter; a brother, Alfred B. De Jong of Ireton; and two sisters, Jeanette Groenendyk of Hudsonville, Michigan, and Thelma Bomgaars of Maurice.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Gaylene Rose and a son, Arnold Jay.
