Don was born on July 28, 1928, to Ephrem and Agnes Pouliot. He was one of 13 children and helped on the family farm until he was drafted by the army in 1954. On June 5, he married Rita Dehn from Anoka , and then returned to the army to serve in Japan for the next 18 months. He and Rita built their home on the family homestead, where he made his living farming and raised their 8 children. Don remained farming until 1982 when his health required him to retire. He then began his hobby of fixing bikes and did so in his garage for many years. Don was a religious man and a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Catholic Aid Association. Don loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, whether it was biking on his special three-wheeler bike, playing games and cards, or reading to them. In June of 2010, Don was diagnosed with bile duct cancer, a rare cancer associated with the liver. Don's health declined rapidly and his family spent many hours around his bedside sharing stories and memories during his stay in Hospice. Don will be greatly missed by his wife, Rita, of 56 years, his children Julaine (Dave) Krier, Joyce (Randy) Hatcher, David (Louise), Allen (Donna), Douglas (Denise), Janice (Pat) Hank, Jodi (Dave) Thomsen, Aaron (Peggy), 21 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. siblings: Marie Dehn, Delia Roehl, George Pouliot, Father Francis Pouliot, Lt. Col. USAF (ret.) Richard Pouliot, Lt. Col. USA (ret.) Ralph Pouliot, Leo Pouliot, Marian Neumann, Carol Mindrum-Patton and Father Eugene Pouliot; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by parents Ephrem and Agnes; brother Ernie; sister Isabelle Barthel.
