Born September 28, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois to Andrew Meyer and Hilda (Vogel) Meyer. Passed away June 4, 2010 at her Bloomington home. Elaine was very active in sports at Fenger High School and traveled extensively. Her career started at Jones and Laughlin Steel Corp. of Chicago in the early 1940's. She postponed her career in the 1950's to marry Wendell G. Anderson, raising two children, Karen and Kevin. The family relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1960. Elaine resumed her professional career in 1975 with the City of Indianapolis, planning department. She retired in 1995 as a Senior Planner. The building community respected her no-nonsense approach to permit reviews. Her final project was the review and issuance of permits for the Colonel Weir Cook Indianapolis Airport Terminal. To be nearer her family, Elaine moved to Bloomington in 2001. She volunteered at the Area 10 Agency on Aging of Ellettsville, and was active with friends and family. Elaine was predeceased by both parents, Andrew and Hilda Meyer of Chicago; husband, Wendell G. Anderson of Indianapolis, Indiana; brother, Ken Meyer and wife, Marion of Frankfort and New Lenox, Illinois. Her memory will be cherished by daughter, Karen L. Haldeman and husband, Arthur of Unionville, Indiana; son, Kevin D. Anderson and Valerie DeLar of Tucson Arizona; grandchildren, Annalise Haldeman of Unionville, Indiana, Kristen Anderson of Garden Grove, California; and brother, Warren Meyer and wife, Muriel of Grand Rapids, Michigan
